Health and wellness coaches, managers, and educators can take an independent, self-study course, offered by the Fitness Law Academy that accompanies the Legal Toolkit. This course covers the topics covered in the Legal Toolkit’s three chapters. Click on the Legal Toolkit Description link above - each of the three chapters are briefly described.

 

Individuals will receive a certificate indicating NBHWC 4.0 CEs upon successful completion of the course. If you have a certification from an organization other than the NBHWC, you can contact that organization to ask about petition requirements to obtain CEs from this course.

Course Objectives

This course is designed for health & wellness coaches, managers, and educators – those who genuinely care about learning important laws applicable to the health & wellness coaching profession and complying with those laws.

By completing this course, health and wellness coaches and managers will be able to:

• OBTAIN a working knowledge of (a) the law and (b) risk management as they pertain to the health & wellness coaching profession.

• UNDERSTAND and APPRECIATE the many legal duties of health and wellness coaches and managers.

• REDUCE legal liability risks associated with health & wellness coaching (e.g., legal and professional scope of practice, noncompliance with laws that pertain to data privacy/security, consumer protection, and discrimination).

• DEVELOP and IMPLEMENT a comprehensive risk management plan for your health & wellness coaching program.

• ADVANCE the reputation and credibility of the health and wellness coaching profession.

This self-study course includes the following materials. The Legal Toolkit and a flash drive with the seven course files will be mailed after payment is received.

* After reviewing the three chapters in the Legal Toolkit and listening to the four PPT audio recordings (each about 1 hour), individuals will be well-prepared to take the Quiz. The quiz is open-book and is completed on your own time. A pass rate of 80% is needed for successful completion in order to earn the 4.0 CEs. Individuals who do not pass on the first attempt will have a second attempt at no additional cost. There is no third attempt.

 

Course Fee

The fee for the course is $97 (with the required Legal Toolkit) and $75 for those who already have the Legal Toolkit or prefer to order it on their own from Amazon ($22).

Student Discount: Students (part-time and full-time) receive a 5% discount (e.g., $92 with Legal Toolkit and $71 without Legal Toolkit). Students wanting to take this course for academic credit should consult with their academic advisor to determine if this course qualifies for an independent study in their program of study.

 

NOTE: Individuals living outside the 48 contiguous U.S. states will need to purchase the Legal Toolkit on Amazon ($22). It is too expensive to mail.

For this option, you must inform Dr. JES (drjes2014@gmail.com) the name and e-mail address of the person to whom you are transferring the course. You are responsible for any and all transactions and costs involved in the transfer. If at any time, the course professor cancels this course, a full refund for the course fee (e.g., $75) will be issued but not for the Legal Toolkit ($22)
